Reportedly the artwork for almost four completed issues of picto-fiction titles exist, as EC publisher William Gaines commissioned the stories before deciding to cancel the titles. One story, by artist Frank Frazetta, was never finished, but 19 others were delivered and paid for.
One of these tales, "The Mother", drawn by Jack Davis, saw the light of day in the 1996 book Tales From the Crypt by Digby Diehl. Here's a sneak peek of The Mother. A second story, "Wanted For Murder", an Al Williamson job slated for Crime Illustrated #3, was published in the book Foul Play! The Art and Artists of the Notorious 1950s E.C. Comics! by Grant Geissman in 2005. Here's the splash page as a preview. |
